Are your suffering from vacation deprivation' Chances are pretty good you are. Workers are expected to give back 574 million vacation days in 2006. On average, Americans leave at least four days of unclaimed vacation annually--up one day over last year. Add to that the fact that Americans receive the fewest vacation days per year on average among developed countries--14 days, compared to 17 in Australia, 19 in Canada, 24 in the UK, 27 in Germany, and 39 in France. And to add insult to injury, one in four workers plans to work while on vacation this year. Can that be considered a vacation' (The Washington Post, 25-Jun-2006, p. F1)
